Tuckahoe Senior Citizens was established in 1970 and was the first program of its kind in Westchester County.
Our mission is to reduce the instances of isolation and loneliness often found in the senior population. Tuckahoe Senior Citizens provides older members of local neighborhoods the enjoyment of participating in an active community of peers while maintaining connections to a wider world beyond their own homes and families.
Our philosophy is based on the premise that aging is a normal development process; that people need peers with whom they can interact and are available as a source of encouragement and support; and that senior adults have the right to a voice in determining matters in which they have a vital interest.
Senior Citizens Council (www.scc70.org) oversees administrative operations and activities at Tuckahoe and Bronxville Senior Citizens. The volunteer board is responsible for raising funds for the salaries of a professional director at Tuckahoe and Bronxville Senior Citizens, a part-time administrative assistant, and financially supports some of our programs and services.
The Senior Council (SCC) is a community-based organization established 48 years ago by a coalition of local organizations who recognized a growing need among seniors in the area for professionally run programs and services.
